The Lindsley Center

YES began its work as the Hobby Shop in this downtown facility in 1956.  Here, we primarily serve the J.C. Napier and Tony Sudekum Housing Developments in inner-city Nashville. According to a recent Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) survey, more than 1 in 5 students in this community do not graduate from high school. The average annual income of a family is approximately $11,548, and there is about a 44% unemployment rate among residents. It also has some of the highest crime rates in the city.

The Lindsley Center has established its presence as beacon of hope, where parents entrust their children in our care. The youth we serve are given the support they need to succeed in school, in life, and in faith. We provide opportunities they might otherwise never experience. Most importantly, they are loved, mentored and encouraged by people who care about them.

Our Carpenter’s Square location was previously our McIver Center. Known as the host site for our Winter Basketball League, the McIver Center was built as our 2nd YES Center. This location serves the Woodbine/Glencliff cluster. The minority rate is 81% or higher in schools around the Nolensville area like Glencliff Elementary, Wright Middle School, and Glencliff High School. According to USNews, students are 9% proficient in reading and 2% proficient in mathematics while crime rates for Glencliff are 452% higher than the national average. It is our goal to provide our children with love, compassion, and guidance throughout the years to lead them towards a better future.
