Viva Price

About Viva Price:

Viva Price feels her personal mission is to restore marginalized communities with the resources and connections that will equip them to thrive. Viva is a native of Ooltewah, a suburb of Chattanooga. Graduating summa cum laude from UT (Go VOLS!) with degrees in Psychology and Sociology, she had a burning desire to improve the quality of life for neglected populations. Through each step on her career path, this passion for social justice acted as her driving force. But, she had no idea where her efforts would land. That passion steered her journey through the social services, public health, government, and the nonprofit worlds.

Viva coordinated support services, directed child injury prevention, adolescent health, youth development, and child abuse prevention initiatives in Metro Atlanta before relocating to Nashville. Through various capacities, she has served families disproportionately impacted by social inequity. Each position helped her acquire the insight and navigational skills to identify obstacles that block the progress of BIPOC and economically disadvantaged communities.

Viva enthusiastically spearheads Youth Encouragement Services, a local agency that provides the opportunities, connections, and resources to influence life’s trajectories for kids in South Nashville. Through her work, she has learned that a concerted effort is needed to eliminate the injustice that plights low-income communities of color. She feels fortunate to forge progress with leaders in the Mosaic Fellowship, CNM Board of Directors, Vanderbilt Community Engagement Forum, and sister organizations across the city.
